In the financial year ending March 2023, it was alleged that PetroSA had charged Eskom up to R26 per litre for diesel, way over the pump price[28]. Actual numbers are, of course, rarely shared, but EE Intelligence reported the 2022-23 contract values as below. Who knows though? As reported by Carte Blanche[29], in 2023 Minister for Minerals and Energy, Gwede Mantashe, repeatedly justified secrecy around PetroSA’s contracting. In many cases, we just don’t know where it is buying from and how much it is selling for!
